Citrus prefilled pod IQOS in San José: the order shortlist
Citrus in San José: 6 units tested over 5 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Ordering IQOS to San José: the practical version
If you are looking at citrus in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the prefilled pod you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
We run citrus the same way in San José: same prefilled pod, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the prefilled pod you buy decides how long citrus tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a citrus prefilled pod really costs in San José
Citrus prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.75 per 10 ml.
How we tested citrus in a prefilled pod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a prefilled pod arrives sealed but wrong.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Stock depth: 6 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest prefilled pod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does citrus in a prefilled pod last?
In San José we measured 5 to 6 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On citrus the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.75 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
What nicotine strength should citrus start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a prefilled pod.
