Citrus prefilled pod IQOS in San José: the online shortlist
Citrus in San José: 7 units tested over 7 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Coil life, liquid cost and the citrus habit
Citrus in a prefilled pod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Citrus prefilled pod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 7 units and 7 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
The short version: citrus in San José works if the prefilled pod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a citrus prefilled pod really costs in San José
Citrus sounds like one product. It is not: a prefilled pod running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
How we tested citrus in a prefilled pod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Batch code and production date, so a citrus bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Stock depth: 7 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Spare parts availability for prefilled pod in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest prefilled pod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a prefilled pod that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On citrus the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.92 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
How long does citrus in a prefilled pod last?
In San José we measured 7 to 7 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
What nicotine strength should citrus start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a prefilled pod.
