Citrus disposable vape IQOS in San José: the flat shortlist
Citrus in San José: 20 units tested over 3 weeks, disposable vape formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
How to tell a good disposable vape from a repack
The honest read on citrus: 20 units through the same routine over 3 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
We run citrus the same way in San José: same disposable vape, same 3 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the disposable vape you buy decides how long citrus tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a citrus disposable vape really costs in San José
Most people searching IQOS in Costa Rica are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
How we tested citrus in a disposable vape
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the disposable vape that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a disposable vape arrives sealed but wrong.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every citrus bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Batch code and production date, so a citrus bottle turned in 3 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where citrus goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest disposable vape available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ignoring the batch date on a disposable vape and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Chasing a discount on a disposable vape that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for citrus in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Is citrus legal to sell in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Why does citrus taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the disposable vape units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the citrus blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On citrus the budget price and the premium price can sit within ₡2.48 per 10 ml once 4–9 business days is counted.
