Cherry pod kit IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Cherry in San José: 21 units tested over 7 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with cherry in Costa Rica
Cherry pod kit reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 21 units and 7 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long cherry tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a cherry pod kit really costs in San José
Cherry in a pod kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested cherry in a pod kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every cherry bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Stock depth: 21 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where cherry goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a pod kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in Costa Rica accept nicotine freight.
- Buying the cheapest pod kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a pod kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in San José: about ₡2.27 per 10 ml liquid plus ₡42 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
What nicotine strength should cherry start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pod kit.
Why does cherry taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the cherry blend itself harsh.
