Candy starter kit IQOS in San José: the price shortlist
Candy in San José: 7 units tested over 7 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with candy in Costa Rica
Candy in San José reaches the shelf in starter kit formats, and the value ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
Candy prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.06 per 10 ml.
The short version: candy in San José works if the starter kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a candy starter kit really costs in San José
If you are looking at candy in Costa Rica, the first question is not strength. It is whether the starter kit you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested candy in a starter kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every candy bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
Where candy goes wrong
- Mixing candy with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why candy tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest starter kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority. Shipping of nicotine to Costa Rica runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
