Berry cartomizer IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Berry in San José: 22 units tested over 8 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What the label on Berry is allowed to say
We run berry the same way in San José: same cartomizer, same 8 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The short version: berry in San José works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a berry cartomizer really costs in San José
A berry cartomizer from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡2.89 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested berry in a cartomizer
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- Batch code and production date, so a berry bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where berry goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡37 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.89 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a cartomizer that then needs an adapter nobody in Costa Rica stocks.

Packaging for berry in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
