Apple in San José: 21 units tested over 9 weeks, zero-nicotine bottle formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Where buyers go wrong with apple in Costa Rica
A apple zero-nicotine bottle from the budget options in Costa Rica costs about ₡3.04 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in Costa Rica. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The short version: apple in San José works if the zero-nicotine bottle, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a apple zero-nicotine bottle really costs in San José
Apple prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.04 per 10 ml.
How we tested apple in a zero-nicotine bottle
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the zero-nicotine bottle that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Coil type inside the zero-nicotine bottle, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in Costa Rica, not a suggestion.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where apple goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why apple tastes flat after two days.
- Ignoring the batch date on a zero-nicotine bottle and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
The rules that apply here
Costa Rica regulates nicotine imports under its health authority.
Packaging for apple in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
