Apple RDA IQOS in San José: the budget shortlist
Apple in San José: 9 units tested over 6 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What apple costs in San José
We run apple the same way in San José: same RDA, same 6 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Apple in a RDA is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long apple tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a apple RDA really costs in San José
Apple prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡2.52 per 10 ml.
How we tested apple in a RDA
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Stock depth: 9 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the RDA, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a RDA arrives sealed but wrong.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every apple bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
Where apple goes wrong
- Treating the advertised ₡58 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡2.52 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why apple tastes flat after two days.
- Mixing apple with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
