Apple box mod IQOS in San José: the review shortlist
Apple in San José: 10 units tested over 9 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
What apple costs in San José
Apple sounds like one product. It is not: a box mod running varies will taste nothing like the same blend on a different device, which is why we test before we recommend.
We run apple the same way in San José: same box mod, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Below is the run we did for this search: 10 units, box mod, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a apple box mod really costs in San José
Apple prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.21 per 10 ml.
How we tested apple in a box mod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–9 business days.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–9 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Spare parts availability for box mod in Costa Rica, since tanks and pods go first.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every apple bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Batch code and production date, so a apple bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where apple goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Mixing apple with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why apple tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
Packaging for apple in Costa Rica must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does apple taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the apple blend itself harsh.
How long does apple in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 9 to 10 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
