Apple box mod IQOS in San José: the guide shortlist
Apple in San José: 8 units tested over 2 weeks, box mod formats, priced per 10 ml for Costa Rica.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Apple prices move with import duty more than with brand. In San José that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within ₡3.2 per 10 ml.
Apple box mod reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 8 units and 2 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
The short version: apple in San José works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a apple box mod really costs in San José
Apple in a box mod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In San José the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested apple in a box mod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Costa Rica, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every apple bottle shipped into Costa Rica.
- Coil type inside the box mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a apple bottle turned in 2 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where apple goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why apple tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised ₡30 entry kit as the real cost when refills run ₡3.2 per 10 ml.
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in Costa Rica sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to Costa Rica need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
How long does apple in a box mod last?
In San José we measured 2 to 8 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Can I order IQOS online in Costa Rica?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 4–9 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
What nicotine strength should apple start at?
Start at whatever Costa Rica allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a box mod.
